Salsa is a Cuban folk dance, which has recently become very popular in clubs of many countries. Salsa is open to people of different age and physical shape, in contrary to ballroom Latin American dancing which is more a sport than a dance. Salsa is more a means of communication, though it requires serious effort to learn. Couples are not constant and change of partners enables to learn how to gain mutual understanding during a dance with a stranger. As soon as you can do it, you can dance salsa in any club of the world, communicating in universal language of dance.

Salsa in Rostov-on-Don
The triumphal procession of Latin American club dances (salsa and merengue) in the world hasn’t reached that extend in Russia yet. Nowadays salsa clubs are open in three Russian cities – Moscow, St. Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don. The fact that people started dancing salsa in the capitals is not surprising and in Rostov it came thanks to several happy coincidences.
First and most important are, no doubt, the Rostov founders of the "Boogaloo" club Marina and Gennady Vanyushin. They managed not only to catch their students up in love to salsa and Latin American rhythms but also to set the teaching of salsa in Rostov to a high level. Thanks to that it is now possible to speak of Rostov school that differs from the Moscow and St. Petersburg ones.
The idea of a dance club for people of different age got into fertile soil – the need for such club was obvious. Besides, the unique atmosphere of Rostov, a multicultural city that easily absorbs different traditions, was ideal for salsa, an emotional and hot dance. Rostovites can be distinguished in any club by the peculiar light in their eyes that reveals the delight salsa gives them.
Today "Boogaloo" club organizes training, club and street dancing and subject parties. Pictures can be found in "Salsa-life" part. In addition to that the club founded "The third front" festival which has grown from a mass party into a serious event with seminars of world stars.
